Why Yueqing Is China's High-End SDS Drill Bit Cluster
Yueqing is the specialist Chinese manufacturing base for carbide-tipped SDS-Plus and SDS-Max drill bits. Its advantage is not the place name by itself, but the concentration of the processes this product needs: carbide-head supply, body-steel forming, flute production, brazing or welding, heat treatment, shank tooling, grinding, packaging, and export experience.
That concentration makes Yueqing the stronger starting point for a high-end SDS program. It does not make every Yueqing factory premium. Buyers still need to verify the material specification, head construction, joining route, symmetry and circular run-out, heat treatment, and final acceptance criteria. The cluster provides capability; the selected factory must prove control.
When a Buyer Actually Needs a Yueqing High-End SDS Program
- Professional or contractor channels: a broken tip, oversized anchor hole, or inconsistent reorder creates more cost than the initial unit-price saving.
- Reinforced concrete and SDS-Max: higher impact energy and rebar contact make head construction, body steel, joining, and run-out control commercially important.

Which Head for Which Material
The head geometry should match the material, not the brand. The simple rule: soft and hollow masonry wants a 2-cutter for speed; reinforced concrete wants four edges or more to survive rebar; hard abrasive rock and deep SDS-Max work wants a multi-segment head; the smallest repeated-rebar sizes want a full carbide head. This matrix maps our heads to the common base materials so a distributor can spec the right line per channel.

- 2-cutter (self-centering tip) — plain concrete, brick, block and masonry where rebar is not the issue; clears dust faster and drills more holes per charge.
- 4-cutter cross (ZHMAX-5X) — reinforced concrete with frequent rebar; four edges share the impact and shrug off the steel.
- Multi-segment 4-cutter (ZHMAX-7) — hard abrasive rock, deep holes and heavy SDS-Max work.

Head choice also drives exit quality, not just speed. On through-holes the last few millimetres of concrete have no backing, so a single-line 2-cutter tends to blow out a larger exit cone, while a 4-cutter cross or multi-segment head spreads the impact and a self-centering tip keeps the exit round. That protects effective embedment and anchor pull-out on the back face — so for distributors whose customers do through-anchoring or care about exit finish, spec the cross or multi-segment head, not the cheapest 2-cutter.

Should my range use SDS-Plus or SDS-Max?
Start with the customer’s rotary hammer, hole diameter and working depth. SDS-Plus fits the core anchor and masonry range; SDS-Max serves heavier machines and larger or deeper drilling. We match the diameter-and-length ladder to each machine platform.
How do I choose between two-cutter, four-cutter and full-carbide heads?
Choose around concrete, aggregate and reinforcement before choosing the head. Our IR, IZ and I7 two-cutter options, four-cutter and multi-insert heads, and full-carbide constructions serve different drilling duties. Cutting-edge count, carbide arrangement and head-to-body connection are separate specifications.
How is the carbide joined to the steel body?
Our insert-head programs use brazing in a continuous controlled-atmosphere mesh-belt furnace. Our one-piece full-carbide heads use resistance friction welding (RFW). We confirm the head construction and joining route for the selected SKU; the head name alone does not identify the joining process.
Why do body steel and heat treatment need to be specified together?
Steel grade, heat-treatment condition and body geometry work together under impact, torque and bending. The same hardness value does not establish the same toughness. We confirm the specified 40Cr or 42CrMo body construction against the head, size and machine duty.
What does a PGM mark tell an anchor-drilling buyer?
PGM covers inspected masonry-drill geometry and controlled production for anchor-related drilling. The mark is used with the required manufacturer identification. For an order requiring PGM marking, we confirm the applicable product and authorized manufacturing scope. Hole size and cleaning still follow the selected anchor instructions.
Which dimensional checks matter when buying SDS bits?
Finished cutting diameter, head symmetry, straightness, circular run-out and shank fit affect hole accuracy and drilling behavior. Agree the drawing and inspection requirements for the selected item. A carbide certificate or attractive surface finish does not replace the complete tool specification.
What happens when a concrete bit reaches rebar?
The next step follows the tool construction. Our rated full-carbide reinforced-concrete bits use their specified hammer mode. With a separate crown rebar cutter, stop at steel, change tools, switch hammer action off, cut the approved reinforcement, then return to the concrete bit.
When should a masonry bit be replaced?
Check cutting diameter and head condition against the job and anchor requirements. Worn outer corners can produce an undersized hole while the bit still drills. Chipped carbide, joint movement or visible distortion also call for inspection and replacement rather than forcing the tool.
How are surface finish, rust protection and packaging selected?
We coordinate the specified finish, transport protection and packaging for the order. Storage conditions and packaging influence corrosion protection, so any stated protection period needs agreed conditions. Tubes, retail packs and master cartons are selected around the size mix and distribution channel.
