Diamond Core Drill Bits
Premium core bits for reinforced concrete and masonry. Engineered for fast drilling speed, long life, and smooth heavy-duty performance.
Product Series
Specialized segments for wet and dry coring applications
Wet Core Drill Bits
Standard wet coring bits for reinforced concrete, granite, and hard masonry. Laser welded diamond segments ensure safety and durability under extreme heat and stress. Water cooling is required to flush debris and expose fresh diamond cutting surfaces.
Dry Core Drill Bits
Designed for handheld drilling in brick, masonry, and concrete block where water supply is unavailable. Features spiral barrel or side vents for efficient dry dust removal. Compatible with standard SDS-Plus and SDS-Max rotary hammers.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is a diamond core drill bit and what is it used for?
A diamond core drill bit is a hollow cylindrical tool with diamond-impregnated segments on its cutting face. It is designed to cut precise, clean, round holes in hard materials by removing a solid core. Common applications include:
- Plumbing & HVAC: Drilling pipe runs through concrete floors and walls
- Electrical: Creating conduit openings in reinforced concrete
- Structural: Bridge deck sampling, anchor bolt holes, and structural testing
- Construction: Window/door openings, manhole covers, utility penetrations
- Geological: Core sample extraction for site investigation
Diamond core bits deliver vibration-free, dust-controlled drilling with no structural damage to the surrounding material.
What is the difference between wet and dry core drill bits?
Wet core bits require a continuous water supply during drilling. Water serves three critical functions: cooling the diamond segments, flushing debris from the hole, and exposing fresh diamond cutting surfaces. Wet bits are designed for reinforced concrete, granite, and other hard materials.
Dry core bits are designed for use without water, typically in brick, block, and soft masonry. They feature spiral barrels or side vents that allow air circulation for cooling and dust ejection. Dry bits are ideal for indoor work where water would cause damage.
Important: Never use a wet-designated bit without water — it will cause segment glazing, overheating, and premature failure.
What thread connections are available?
We offer three standard thread connections:
- 1-1/4" UNC (Female): The global standard for professional core drilling rigs. Used for bits Ø40mm and above. Most common in construction and industrial applications.
- 1/2" BSP (Female/Male): Common in Europe and Asia for smaller handheld core drills. Used for bits Ø25–80mm.
- 5/8"-11 UNC: Used primarily in North America for smaller diameter bits and angle grinder-mounted coring.
We also manufacture custom adapters to convert between thread standards.
What segment types are available and how do I choose?
We offer multiple segment designs optimized for different materials:
- Crown Segment (Standard): General-purpose flat segments for everyday concrete and masonry coring. Economical and reliable.
- Turbo Segment: Aggressive wave-pattern segments for faster cutting in hard materials. Higher diamond concentration for extended life.
- Groove Turbo Segment: Features cooling grooves cut into the turbo pattern, reducing heat buildup. Best for reinforced concrete with heavy rebar.
- Sharp Corner Segment: Beveled edges for faster initial penetration and reduced breakout chipping.
General rule: Softer materials (brick, block) → Crown segments. Harder materials (reinforced concrete, granite) → Turbo or Groove Turbo segments.
How can I maximize the lifespan of my diamond core drill bit?
Follow these guidelines for maximum bit life:
- Water Flow: Maintain adequate water pressure (2–4 L/min for small bits, 6–10 L/min for large bits). Water must flow continuously — never let the bit run dry.
- Drilling Speed (RPM): Follow the recommended RPM chart. General rule: larger diameter = lower RPM. Ø50mm ≈ 800 RPM, Ø100mm ≈ 400 RPM, Ø200mm ≈ 200 RPM.
- Feed Pressure: Apply steady, moderate pressure. Let the diamonds do the cutting — excessive force causes overheating and premature wear.
- Starting: Begin at a slight angle or use a guide/jig to prevent the bit from walking on flat surfaces.
- Rebar: Slow down when hitting rebar. The change in sound and vibration is your signal to reduce RPM and pressure.
What is the maximum drilling depth?
Our standard core bits provide working depths of 300mm, 400mm, or 450mm (effective cutting length). For deeper applications:
- Tube Extensions: We offer extension rods that increase drilling depth in 300mm or 500mm increments.
- Custom Barrels: We can manufacture barrels up to 1000mm overall length for special deep-drilling applications.
- Multi-pass drilling is possible with extension rods, enabling depths of 1 meter or more.
Note: Deep drilling requires higher water flow rates from multiple directions and slower RPM to maintain cooling effectiveness.
Can diamond core bits cut through rebar and reinforced concrete?
Yes, our wet core drill bits with Turbo or Groove Turbo segments are specifically designed to cut through reinforced concrete containing steel rebar. Key points:
- Laser welding ensures segments remain securely attached even when hitting rebar at high speed.
- The diamond matrix is formulated to cut both concrete and mild steel rebar without segment loss.
- When cutting through rebar, expect reduced cutting speed (approximately 30–50% slower than plain concrete) and slightly increased segment wear.
- For heavy rebar concentration, we recommend Groove Turbo segments for optimal heat management.
Note: Core bits are NOT designed for cutting hardened steel, stainless steel, or structural steel beams.
