Hilti TE-SX BP is a TE-S bull point chisel for controlled chipping and layer-by-layer removal of concrete and masonry. Its sharp working end concentrates the first contact, helping the operator choose where to start a local break. At Zhonghuan, we examine the point geometry, steel construction, machine connection and maintenance that define this product.
TE-SX BP 36 and BP 50 specifications
TE-SX BP 36 is 360 mm long, item 2452583. TE-SX BP 50 is 500 mm long, item 2452584. Both use TE-S and are listed as single-piece inserts. The physical tool in the supplied photographs is labelled TE-SX BP 36; it illustrates the shorter member of the same family.
| Model | Overall length | Connection | Item number |
|---|---|---|---|
| TE-SX BP 36 | 360 mm | TE-S | 2452583 |
| TE-SX BP 50 | 500 mm | TE-S | 2452584 |
The UK family page also lists a 700 mm option. Choose length around reach, working position and access to the intended breaking point. The BP 50 provides additional reach over the BP 36; the connection remains TE-S.

Bull Point geometry: locating the first break
The close-up shows several ground faces converging into a compact point, with longitudinal recesses running back along the working section. This gives the operator a defined location for the initial contact. As the point enters, the widening section applies load to the surrounding material and helps initiate a local fracture. The visible transition then builds back into a fuller working body.
Hilti positions the super-sharp tip for precise chipping and exposing reinforcement. The practical value is control over the next bite: select a point, remove a manageable amount of material and reposition to continue the removal path. Longitudinal recesses alongside the point leave space beside the working body for fragments to move.

Steel and hardening for repeated impact
Hilti identifies air-hardened steel as part of the wear and rebar-contact resistance of the BP design. It also lists inductive hardening for resistance to mushrooming, wear and bending. These material and treatment features support different parts of repeated impact work: the point encounters the substrate, the body carries the load and the connection receives the machine’s blows.

TE-S connection and machine fit
The specified connection is TE-S. The complete product view shows the rear shank, its longitudinal recesses and the black cap near the holder entrance. Match the insert to the actual TE-S tool holder and machine instructions. TE-Y/SDS-Max and TE-H/HEX 28 use separate connection systems.
The red sleeve on the supplied physical tool is connection-end packaging and is removed for installation. The point profile, overall length and connection type are separate selection dimensions; confirm all three for the intended job.
Chipping, shallow recesses and rebar exposure
- Chipping concrete, brick and block: concentrate contact at the next removal point and work progressively.
- Creating shallow recesses in a slab: use repeated, controlled bites to build the required local recess.
- Exposing rebar: remove the surrounding concrete to reveal the reinforcement as required by the repair plan.
Rebar exposure is a concrete-removal task around the steel. Whether reinforcement is to be retained or cut is determined by the repair plan. A flat or scaling chisel offers a different contact width when the next operation requires directional trimming or wider surface removal.
Resharpening and connection-end care
Hilti explicitly describes the BP’s high-alloy steel as suitable for resharpening with an angle grinder and supplies resharpening documents on the product page. Use those instructions to restore the working point when needed. This is a maintainable sharp-point design; point condition remains part of normal tool care.
Keep the shank clean, use the lubricant specified for the machine and confirm normal retention before starting. During continued work, inspect the point, body and connection together so the insert remains suited to the next controlled chipping operation.
