3-block monobloc carbide head · 6 active cutting edges
ZHMAX-168 6-Cutter SDS-Max Drill Bit
A three-block carbide head with six active cutting edges around a centering point. Built for buyers who need a 6-cutter SDS-Max architecture for round, controlled holes in hard stone, reinforced concrete and deep-hole drilling.
3 blocks describe the carbide construction. 6-cutter describes the active cutting geometry.
Head architecture
A three-block, six-edge carbide layout
Three large carbide blocks form the head. Each block provides two active edges, creating six effective edges around the cutting face. The raised centering point starts the hole, while the progressive core and wide flutes support deep-hole guidance and debris removal.
01 · Carbide blocks
Three monobloc components
The head uses three large carbide blocks joined in the steel head through Zhonghuan's controlled-atmosphere belt-furnace brazing route. It is not a one-piece full-carbide head.
02 · Cutting face
Six active cutting edges
The buyer-facing 6-cutter name counts the six cutting edges, not merely the three visible carbide blocks.
03 · Body + flute
Built around heavier SDS-Max work
A progressive 42CrMo body and wide flutes support controlled drilling in longer, deeper SDS-Max applications.

42CrMo body heat-treatment route
Multi-stage thermal control for long SDS-Max bodies
ZHMAX-168 uses a multi-stage route for its 42CrMo steel body. The cycle begins with controlled-atmosphere belt-furnace normalizing, then continues through the approved hardening, conditioning and stabilization stages for the target diameter, section and impact duty.
01 · Belt-furnace normalizing
Controlled-atmosphere normalizing establishes a more uniform starting structure while limiting excessive oxidation and decarburization.
02 · Hardening / conditioning
Cycle parameters are matched to steel condition, diameter, flute mass, shank section and the intended hammer duty.
03 · Tempering / stabilization
A final salt-bath tempering or stabilization stage is applied where required by the approved cycle to balance hardness and impact toughness, relieve residual stress and improve dimensional stability.
04 · Straightening + release
After thermal processing, the body is straightened and released against defined hardness zones, straightness, runout and the approved sample or project specification.
Application fit
Where the six-edge architecture belongs
- Hard stone and deep holes: stable tracking and hole roundness where the job requires a specialist SDS-Max geometry.
- Mining blast-hole work: volume Ø32 formats where round, calibrated holes and longer reach matter to the program.
- Reinforced concrete and anchoring: a six-edge option for the relevant diameter and hammer class; validate in the target material.
- Masonry and stone penetration: centering and controlled drilling in mixed or abrasive material.
