A Four-Cutter Bit for Professional Concrete Fastening
KEIL MS5 TURBOHEAD Xpro is a four-cutter hammer drill bit for concrete fastening, including reinforced-concrete applications. Its design brings together an X-shaped carbide head, a centring point and a reinforced-core steel flute. The useful result for the installer is a combination of controlled hole starting, sustained drilling and efficient removal of broken material.
For distributors selecting a professional SDS-Plus range, the complete bit matters: concrete and aggregate, the likelihood of reinforcement contact, the rotary hammer, hole diameter and drilling depth. These conditions determine how much value the head, flute and steel-body construction can deliver.

How the X-Shaped Carbide Head Fits the Steel Body
The assembly illustration shows a single X-shaped carbide component above a matching steel seat. In the assembled head, steel rises alongside the carbide. Red Dot’s design description calls it a full-carbide X-shaped head, held by the sides of the drill body and brazed into place (Red Dot).
The design combines a one-piece X-shaped carbide head, lateral steel support and a brazed connection. The four working edges belong to that carbide component. A multi-insert cross head, by comparison, uses separate carbide pieces to create its cutting layout. Component count and cutting-edge count describe different features.

Centring Point, Cutting Edges and Dust Entrances
The close-ups show the raised central region and four outward cutting directions. The supplied technical drawing marks a 150° tip angle. The centring geometry helps establish the starting position, while the surrounding cutting edges and open spaces guide broken material towards the flute entrances.
Those entrances are part of the working design. A strong carbide head needs space behind its edges for fragments to leave the cutting zone. In reinforced-concrete work, compare hole position, finished diameter, drilling progress and edge condition using the same machine and representative material; follow the approved drilling plan where structural reinforcement is involved.

What the MS5 Flute Contributes
KEIL describes MS5 as a flute with a reinforced core and rounded transitions. The published benefits concern drilling-dust transport, impact-energy transfer and reduced swinging and torsional forces. The core carries the drilling load; the surrounding channels provide a path for the material broken by the head.
For deeper holes, evaluate the head and flute together. A bit that clears consistently can maintain progress as depth increases. Flute evacuation moves debris out of the hole; the selected extraction attachment handles dust collection at the work surface.

Steel, Heat Treatment and High-Temperature Brazing
KEIL lists chrome-nickel-molybdenum steel, shot peening, heat treatment and high-temperature brazing at approximately 1,120°C for this product. These manufacturing features support the carbide head through a tough steel body and a controlled connection (KEIL).
The stated temperature describes KEIL’s brazing specification. For our OEM programmes, carbide grade, joint design, steel and heat-treatment requirements are selected together for the intended hammer and drilling conditions. The comparison should assess the finished joint and complete bit, alongside the visible head shape.
KEIL identifies the design with a 2012 Red Dot Product Design award. Its product page also displays the PGM mark, relevant to controlled drill-hole dimensions for fastening. Anchor selection, hole cleaning and installation remain part of the fastening system (KEIL).
SDS-Plus Sizes and Packaging Identification
The SDS-Plus product page and the cylindrical-shank product page describe separate machine connections. Use the table to keep their published ranges distinct. The range limits describe the family; choose an available diameter and length combination by article number.
| Version | Diameter | Overall length L1 | Working length L2 | Machine connection |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| SDS-Plus MS5 TURBOHEAD Xpro | 5–20 mm | 110–600 mm | 50–550 mm | SDS-Plus / HILTI TE-C |
| Cylindrical-shank MS5 TURBOHEAD Xpro | 5–14 mm | 85–160 mm | 50–100 mm | Three-jaw chuck |
The supplied wallet-and-bit photo offers a practical example: the label reads Ø8 mm and 150/210 mm, with article marking 1 251 080 210. Here 150 mm is the working length and 210 mm is the overall length. Record all three dimensions in the order rather than relying on a short description such as ‘8 × 210’.

Choose an OEM Four-Cutter Range with Zhonghuan
We develop SDS-Plus drill-bit configurations for importers, distributors and private-label brands. Start with the concrete, reinforcement contact and rotary-hammer platform, then select head construction, carbide grade, working length and flute geometry for that application.
For a four-cutter programme, we can discuss a one-piece cross insert or a full-carbide-head configuration against the approved drawing and sample. Send the required diameters, working and overall lengths, quantities and packaging preference. We will propose a suitable configuration and sampling plan for your market.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is the Xpro head one-piece carbide or several inserts?
The supplied assembly view shows one X-shaped carbide component. Red Dot describes it as a full-carbide head supported by the sides of the steel body and brazed into place.
Does MS5 mean five cutting edges?
MS5 is the flute-system designation. TURBOHEAD Xpro is described by KEIL as a four-cutting-edge design.
Can the cylindrical-shank version be used directly in an SDS-Plus holder?
The two versions use different connections. Select the SDS-Plus shank for an SDS-Plus rotary hammer; the cylindrical-shank product is specified for a three-jaw chuck.
What does 150/210 mm mean on the Ø8 mm packaging?
It identifies 150 mm working length and 210 mm overall length. The diameter is a separate 8 mm specification.
