Drilling Technique for Reinforced Concrete
Even the best bit will fail with poor technique. Follow these guidelines for reinforced concrete:
- Use hammer-drill mode — never use drill-only mode in reinforced concrete. The hammering action is what breaks the aggregate, and you need it working alongside the rotation.
- Start at low RPM, increase gradually — begin slowly to establish a clean pilot hole, then ramp up to working speed. This prevents the bit from walking across the surface.

- Never force a stuck bit — if the bit jams, do not force it. Rock it gently side to side while maintaining rotation to free it. Forcing risks snapping the bit or damaging the rebar.
